Just what all of you have been waiting for, but didn’t know it. Hang on to your pants. This blog marks the beginning of the ArtArt Project (Another Real Time Advanced Ray Tracer). It is a project that I am starting having not found something comparable for free online. The need exists for amateur programmers to be able to develop software that uses ray tracing graphics in real time, with modern hardware and no fees. With the ever marching advancement of personal computing hardware it will soon be cost efficient to write software with ray-tracers, and programmers who are familiar will be on the bleeding edge. I have some code I’ve been working on in small little spurts, but looking for help and ideas, especially with this code being open source. I don’t plan, on the flip side, to restrict it to only totally free software. If someone for any reason wants to make a game with it, I want them to be able to sell that game. I hope everyone is cool with that.
